About

Amy V. Blakemore is a writer based in Hartford, CT. She writes and reads about eating disorders, queerness, and the bounds of the body, among other things.

Originally a student of poetry, Amy began translating her failed drafts into short fiction in 2013, after which she went on to win the 2014 Kenyon Review Short Fiction Prize and the 2017 WritingxWriters Short, Short Fiction Prize, both of which awarded her full workshop tuition. She has also received support from the Fine Arts Work Center and the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP). Amy’s short fiction has appeared in the Kenyon Review, PANK, wigleaf, and Paper Darts; her nonfiction has appeared in The Iowa Review, Bellevue Literary Review, the Indiana Review, and Redivider; and her reviews have appeared in Cleaver Magazine and Barrelhouse. She holds a Masters of American Studies from Trinity College, where her thesis analyzed the role of narrative and subversion on Pro-Ana websites.

Amy is currently at work on her first novel: a speculative coming-of-age story about hunger, monsters, and girlhood.

Amy has experience in the following professional areas:
